I'm trying a brand new venture. I'm so excited about the possibilities of my "cyber connections." I have already enjoyed meeting new ministry friends via various e-mails and newsletters.
Anyway, my plans are to create my own newsletter and share it with you. I hope it will be inspirational and encouraging.
If you have the time to respond, I would like your impressions of my new adventure.
Please be kind. I have such a delicate spirit!!

Many of you dear friends helped us pray for the birth of our latest grandchild.   The doctor had informed our daughter that he would likely be born with a number of serious birth defects.   We are so thankful to the Lord that Jordan Levi is well and healthy.   (Hope you enjoy the picture - he's such a sweet little thing!)

One of our Sunday School teachers was emphasizing the presence of God and enthusiastically proclaimed, "God is in this room right now."   One startled young boy (not a regular attender) gasped (as he frightfully surveyed the room) "Where is He? Where is He?" |
I love to teach music.  I am a pianist, organist and accordianist.  One of the joys of my life is to teach children and young people how to play an instrument to the glory of God.
My desire as a little girl was to play a musical instrument.  How thankful I am that my parents gave me lessons.  My Mother wanted to play piano, but didn't have a piano or the opportunity for lessons.  Now as I look back, I think she really passed on her desire to my sister and me.  She always loved to hear us practice and would always stay in the lesson with us and help us at home as much as she could...she would even say, "You can practice or do the dishes." (What a good Mom!)  I practiced and learned to make musical sounds with my fingers, and the expression and praise came from my heart and soul.  What a wonderful gift I received.
I'm married to a minister, and he is also a gifted singer and musician.  Many doors have been opened for me to use my music in the ministry.  I've taught from pre-school to senior age students, and several years in a Christian college, and had my own studio.
The following story is just one of the many stories I have to tell about teaching.  A Pastor's wife came to me for lessons...her church needed a pianist, so her husband thought she could do it since she had played the flute in school.   Well, every Sunday he would have her come forward and have the church pray for her. (Talk about pressure.)  She told me her goal was to play at least 6 songs for church in 6 months.  By the way, she worked a full time job, had four children, and was very busy in the church, and practiced any time she could...sometimes giving up sleep.  Amazingly, by 6 months she was playing in church with a limited amount of songs, but she did it.
Then her 10 year old daughter started taking lessons from me, and to her mother's great relief her daughter was the church pianist by the end of a year.  Her daughter was very gifted...and the prayers were answered.
I will be adding more stories and funny things that have happened to me and my music.  If you have a question about playing piano or keyboard please feel free to send me an e-mail and I'll answer you with any help I can give.
I have 6 grandchildren; the latest one was born in March.  The wonderful feeling of falling in love with each new baby is truly a thrilling experience.
Sometimes I have a pity party for myself, because the last 3 years my grandchildren and their parents have lived in other states...very far away from me and their grandpa....so for all you grandmas that share my problem I have some ideas to tell you how to be a part of their lives.  Aunts, sisters, and friends can use them too.
Letters: Write at their age level...draw pictures for the young ones...they don't care if they are stick figures...or use graphics from the computer, and stickers.  Older kids even like them. They don't have to be long.  Kids like to receive a letter addressed to them.  Put stickers, and gum in the letter, and if you have the money they always like those green $1.00 bills.
If the family has a computer, send e-mail letters cards,
and pictures.  My oldest grandson has his own e-mail address now.
Send pictures of yourself so they can remember how you look.  In the photo department at Walmart I bought magnets to stick our picture on, then they put it on the refrigerator or other metal surface.
Books: Check with parents about what kind of books they like.  You can buy and mail them or order them and have them sent.  James Dobson has really good magazine subcriptions for all ages.  My 14 year old grandson likes the "Breakaway" magazine for teen age boys.
I also want to say I'm thankful for the blessing of the telephone.  My husband and I have an 800 voice mail number.  It's a great way to keep in touch. How wonderful to hear their beautiful voices on the phone.  I'm also thankful for airplanes so I get to go see them sometimes.
One grandma told me she wrote her 2 grandson's twice a week for several years while they were with their parents as missionaries in Africa.  Well, when they came home to go to college guess where they lived.... at grandma's house because she had built a strong relationship with them and they were very close.  I will always remember that..because distance doesn't have to make us distant.  Thank you Lord.
